Although Amanda Anisimova was unable to win the trophy at the 2025 Wimbledon Championships, she achieved a career-high singles ranking of No. 7, a proud moment for her mother, Olga Anisimova, who was seen comforting her daughter after the emotional final.
Amanda Anisimova reached her first-ever Grand Slam final at the 2025 Wimbledon Championships, marking a major career milestone.
She defeated World No. 1 Aryna Sabalenka in a dramatic semifinal match, winning 6–4, 4–6, 6–4. This victory shocked the tennis world and confirmed Anisimova’s return to elite form.
In the championship match, Anisimova faced Iga Świątek. The final ended in a one-sided result: Świątek defeated Anisimova 6–0, 6–0 in just 57 minutes.
While Amanda Anisimova’s loss was one of the shortest and most lopsided women’s finals in Wimbledon history, she was still praised for her exceptional performance throughout the tournament.
Her standout performance against World No. 1 Aryna Sabalenka in the semifinals brought her praise from many, including former World No. 1 Tracy Austin, who said on BBC:
“I was so impressed, first of all, with the way Anisimova played. That is top-flight tennis with the serve, the return, landing within three feet of the baseline consistently. She put Sabalenka on her heels, which is hard to do. Sabalenka is usually the one driving the bus and making everyone else move and coming to the net, and having so much depth on her shots.”
Following her victory in her maiden Grand Slam final, Amanda has become the fourth player since 1990 to defeat the world No. 1 on her way to a maiden Grand Slam final, joining Zina Garrison, Marion Bartoli, and Sabine Lisicki on this exclusive list.
Tennis Champion Amanda thanks her Mother, Olga Anisimova, for flying to the 2025 Wimbledon Championships to stand by her side!
Amanda’s mother, Olga, is originally from Moscow, Russia. Olga emigrated to the United States in 1998 with her late husband, Konstantin, and their daughter Maria, seeking better opportunities for their family.
After moving to the U.S., she worked as an accountant in the banking sector and encouraged Amada to start participating in sports at a young age. By the time Amanda was two, she was already playing tennis.
In 2025, during Amanda’s emotional run at Wimbledon, Olga’s presence was a source of strength. After Amanda’s loss in the final, she tearfully thanked her mother, stating;
My mom is the most selfless person I know, and she’s done everything to get me to this point in my life,” said Anisimova, whose father died in 2019 when she was 17. So thank you for being here and breaking the superstition of flying in. It’s definitely not why I lost today. I’m so happy that I get to share this moment and for you to be here and witness this in person. I know you don’t get to see me live, playing, that much anymore, because you do so much for my sister and I, and you always have”
After the passing of her husband in 2019, Olga Anisimova faced the immense challenge of raising her two daughters as a single mother.
Despite the hardships, she demonstrated remarkable strength and resilience, dedicating herself fully to supporting Amanda’s tennis career and providing for her family.
In addition to her supportive mother, Amanda also has a sister and a cute Nephew who was seen cheering for her championship match from the Player Box.
Their presence highlighted how intertwined family and career have been in Amanda’s path, especially following the loss of her father and coach, Konstantin, in 2019.
