Reed Sheppard’s basketball journey began at North Laurel High School in London, Kentucky, where he quickly established himself as the starting shooting guard.

His impressive performance led to remarkable achievements, such as leading the state of Kentucky in scoring during his sophomore year and being named the Kentucky Gatorade Player of the Year as a junior.

During his senior year, Sheppard continued to shine, earning the title of Kentucky Mr. Basketball.

His exceptional skills and accomplishments positioned him as a top-50 prospect in the 2023 class.

In November 2021, Sheppard committed to playing college basketball for Kentucky, choosing the Wildcats over offers from other notable schools like Louisville and Virginia.

Reed Sheppard was born on June 24, 2004, in London, Kentucky, USA, to his parents, Jeff and Stacey Sheppard.

Raised in a basketball-loving family, Reed was introduced to the sport at a young age.

With both of his parents being former basketball players, Reed had the advantage of receiving training from his own family.

Reed Sheppard’s Father Is A Former Basketball Player

Reed Sheppard’s father, Jeffrey Kyle Sheppard, is a former professional collegiate basketball player who gained recognition as the Player of the Year in Georgia in 1993 while attending McIntosh High School in Peachtree City.

He played with the University of Kentucky and secured the title of Most Outstanding Player in the 1998 NCAA tournament in San Antonio.

He was also part of the Kentucky teams that won the national championship in 1996 under Rick Pitino and in 1998 under Tubby Smith.

Despite his success during his college basketball career, Sheppard’s professional career did not yield the same level of achievement.

He had a brief stint in the National Basketball Association (NBA) with the Atlanta Hawks during the 1998-99 season, and while he participated in the preseason games for the Toronto Raptors in 2000, he did not compete in any regular-season games.

Sheppard retired from basketball, citing the impact of the September 11 terrorist attacks as a factor in his decision.

Jeff And Stacey Were College Lover

Reed Sheppard’s parents were college sweethearts, both attending the same university and sharing a passion for basketball.

Stacey, Reed’s mother, was also a basketball player at the University of Kentucky.

After getting married, they had two children, Reed and Madison. They currently live in London, Kentucky, and actively engage in various community initiatives.
