Former San Antonio Spurs star Tim Duncan and his wife, Amy Sherrill, separated in August 2013 amid allegations of Amy’s inappropriate relationship with her trainer.

Many believe that Tim Duncan and his long-time wife, Amy Sherrill, decided to end their marriage after being together for over a decade after the former NBA star found out that Amy was cheating on him with her personal trainer.

Furthermore, reports state that Tim Duncan hired a private investigator to track his wife Amy’s activities a year before their divorce after suspecting her inappropriate relationship with Gilbert R. Urbano Jr., a San Antonio-based personal trainer.

Adding to the allegations, court documents revealed that Tim Duncan’s lawyers attempted to obtain information about the personal trainer.

One document also showed Tim Duncan’s lawyers were even trying to get their hands on a recording from the trainer’s appearance on “Judge Judy” from 2010.

On the other hand, some reports state that Amy allegedly filed for divorce in early March 2013 after finding out Duncan’s sexual orientation and that he cheated on her with another man.

However, despite speculation, neither Tim Duncan nor Amy Sherrill shared the reasons for their divorce.

Similarly, the personal trainer told Express-News that he was unfamiliar with why his name repeatedly appeared in Duncan’s divorce proceedings.

According to each party’s divorce petitions:

“The marriage has become insupportable because of discord or conflict of personalities between petitioner and respondent that destroys the legitimate ends of the marriage relationship and prevents any reasonable expectation of reconciliation.”

Tim Duncan and Amy finalized their divorce in a secret hearing that didn’t take place in a courtroom, and the district judge granted the divorce on his lunch hour as they felt uncomfortable coming to court because of the media’s attention.

Tim Duncan and Former Wife Amy Sherrill Share Two Children!

The NBA legend married Amy Sherrill in the summer of July 2001 after years of dating each other.

Moreover, the couple first met while attending Wake Forest University, where Tim Duncan was in the Demon Deacons men’s basketball team, and Amy was a cheerleader.

Tim Duncan and his former wife, Amy Sherrill, share two children: a daughter named Sidney Ione Duncan and a son named Draven Duncan.

The couple welcomed their first child, daughter Sidney, in 2005; despite their separation, Tim Duncan and Amy Sherrill mutually raised their kids.

Likewise, both their children are pursuing careers in sports; Sidney currently plays for the Stanford University women’s volleyball team.

Before Stanford, Sidney won several honorable titles, including the 2023 TAPPS 3A State Championship, three-time TAPPS 3A Area Championship, four-time all-district first team, and many more while attending Keystone High School.

Similarly, their son, Draven Duncan, is following in his father’s footsteps in basketball.

Draven currently plays basketball at Keystone School and continues to build his career in basketball.

Talking about Amy Sherrill’s life after her divorce from Tim Duncan, she has been a director, marketing, and professional development officer at Fortis Surgical Solutions since 2016.

Prior to that, Amy was the business owner and principal at Crossfit Affiliate from 2012 to 2016.
