A cherished member of Dickson, Tennessee, Michael Ashworth, passed away in a devastating motorcycle accident on August 6, 2025.

So far, the circumstances of Michael’s demise remain concealed. Michael, affectionately known as “Mike,” was a lifelong friend to many in Dickson.

Michael Ashworth is survived by his wife of 17 years, Julie Ashworth, and two sons, Trevor and Trey Ashworth.

The 1992 graduate of the University of Tennessee Southern, Michael, and his wife, Julie, walked down the aisle on April 11, 2008.

Originally from Burns, Tennessee, Michael lived in Dickson with Julie and his two kids.

He was working as an Industrial Multicraft Maintenance Technician at Daltile since August 21, 2015.

Both of Michael’s sons, Trevor and Trey, play football.

Trevor Ashworth was a standout football player at Dickson County High School in Dickson, Tennessee, graduating in 2025.

Playing as an offensive tackle (OT) and defensive tackle (DT) with jersey number 70, he was a key part of the Cougars’ varsity football team from 2021 to 2024.

His athletic achievements included a 315-pound bench press, 15 reps at 185 pounds, a 545-pound squat, and a 275-pound clean, earning him recognition as an all-district lineman.

In his junior year (2023), the team had a solid 6-5 record, finishing third in their district and ranking 152nd in Tennessee. However, his freshman and sophomore years were tougher, with the team posting 2-8 records.

Michael was a supportive father to his son Trevor, whom he entrusted to a local coach for travel football.

Trevor’s local coach, Willie Allen Tidwell, reflected Michael’s decision after his tragic demise, writing:

I had the privilege of coaching Trevor in Travel Football. His mom and dad trusted me teaching him so much. Both are great people. Michael Ashworth will be missed by a lot of people! Prayers for the family.

In the 2024 season, he contributed to the team, notably recording one tackle in a win against West Creek High School on October 25, 2024.

Before joining the varsity team in 2023, Trey played for the Dickson Middle School football team starting in 2021.

Michael Played Baseball at Martin Shoals Baseball Group!

Michael was a proud member of the Martin Shoals Baseball Group, where he left a significant impact as both a player and a teammate.

A fellow teammate, Mike Erickson, recalled meeting Mar in the summer of 1991 at Martin Methodist.

He said, “He was the first player I met. He was a great teammate and a super nice guy. He’s truly going to be missed.“

One of his friends, Michael L Story Jr., shared his grief, writing:

Lord Heavenly Father, I’m asking you to watch over my friend Mike Ashworth as his life was taken too soon in a motorcycle accident this evening. Please wrap your arms and hold his family close in the days ahead. I’ve known Mike my whole life, and he and his family were real good friends of mine. Rest in Peace, my friend.

Luke Williams, one of his neighbors, shared a touching memory via Facebook, writing:

For the first many months of knowing him, I called him Jeffrey. He was so nice and finally one day we were sitting between our homes talking, and he said, ‘I’ve been meaning to tell you, my name is Michael, but you can call me Jeffrey if you want.’ That’s the kind of man he was so kind, so loving, such an amazing dad and husband. He has no idea how much I looked up to him.

Thus far, details surrounding Michael’s funeral services have yet to be shared by his family.

During this difficult time, we offer our heartfelt condolences to his wife, sons, friends, and extended family.

Rest in peace, Michael Ashworth. You will never be forgotten!
