Loz Nicholson will miss the Women’s National Basketball League (WNBL 25) season as she is pregnant and prepares to welcome her first child, a baby boy. She will sit away from the court while looking forward to the new chapter of her life as a mother.

Lauren “Loz” Nicholson, born on March 26, 1993, is a skilled Australian basketball player who excels in national and international competitions.

She began her basketball career at Saint Mary’s College of California, playing for the Saint Mary’s Gaels in Moraga.

At the youth level, Loz first represented Australia in the 2009 FIBA Oceania Under-16 Championship, where she won a gold.

Following this achievement, she participated in the inaugural Under-17 World Championship in France, where Australia finished in seventh place.

Loz’s career took a major step forward in January 2019 when she earned her place on the Opals squad.

Loz began her WNBL journey with the Sydney Uni Flames as a development player until 2011, then went to college.

After completing college, she returned to Australia and rejoined the Sydney Uni Flames for the 2016–17 season.

Loz Nicholson Joyfully Reveals That She Is Expecting Her First Child

Loz Nicholson is expecting her first child with partner Jacob Jackomas. They anticipate their son’s arrival in April 2025.

Jacob Jackomas initially coached the Illawarra Hawks before the 2022/23 NBL season after serving over a decade as Brian Goorjian’s assistant.

As head coach, he led the Hawks to five wins in 37 games. Unfortunately, his tenure ended after the team managed only two wins in its first nine games.

Lauren Nicholson’s commitment as a Hawks fan likely sparked her relationship with Jacob Jackomas.

Although Loz will miss the 2024-25 season, she plans to remain involved with the Hoops Capital side.

Additionally, Loz expressed her excitement about sharing the baby news and her eagerness to meet her son.

She acknowledged the incredible support from the Hoops Capital organization throughout this process and hopes to return to the court in WNBL26.

Flames President Victoria Denholm also conveyed the club’s excitement for Liz as she embarks on her new chapter of life.

Denholm noted that, while the team will undoubtedly miss Nicholson on the court this season, they are thrilled for her as she embraces motherhood.
