Sebastian Telfair is making a desperate plea to former President Donald Trump in hopes of avoiding a six-month prison sentence.
He is set to surrender on Tuesday for allegedly violating the terms of his supervised release in connection with a high-profile healthcare fraud case.
Telfair, along with other ex-NBA players including Keyon Dooling, Glen Davis, Alan Anderson, Will Bynum, and Terrance Williams, was convicted for his role in a scheme that defrauded the NBA’s healthcare plan.
While he initially received time served and three years of supervised release, a judge recently ruled that he failed to comply with the conditions, leading to his resentencing.
Thus, he is appealing to Trump for clemency and claims his violation was merely a paperwork issue. He maintains his innocence in the broader case and argues that a presidential pardon would allow him to focus on personal growth.
Trump, go check in on my story and you’re definitely going to want to pardon me. You’ll hold me accountable and want me to continue to go do good. But I did too good to being sending anybody to jail.

Sebastian Telfair’s Divorce and Child Custody Battle
Sebastian Telfair and his estranged wife, Samantha Telfair, have been embroiled in a contentious divorce and child custody battle since Samantha filed to end their marriage in June 2019.
Court documents reveal Samantha sought sole legal and physical custody of their two children along with spousal support.
Samantha accused Sebastian of attempting to liquidate marital assets before their divorce could be finalized.
She claimed that after filing for divorce, she discovered multiple financial accounts she was unaware of and argues it should be considered community property since the couple had no prenuptial agreement.
Similarly, she alleged that Sebastian had been secretly draining these funds, including one account that once held $520,000 but was reduced to $0, and another from which he withdrew $197,000 without her knowledge.
I am fearful that if I am not able to preserve the remaining community property funds, there will not be a proper division of assets for myself and our children when our dissolution of marriage is nearing completion.

Moreover, Samantha requested a court order to prevent him from further depleting their shared assets, fearing Sebastian would leave her and their children with nothing.

The divorce proceedings followed a history of alleged domestic turmoil.
In 2018, Samantha obtained a temporary restraining order against Sebastian after accusing him of smashing her car windshield and destroying a video doorbell during a confrontation at her home.
She described him as increasingly hostile, unstable, and violent, citing concerning text messages in which he allegedly expressed suicidal thoughts.
Samantha argued that their children should not be exposed to Sebastian’s erratic behavior.
The children should not be exposed to his violence and rants about his suicidal tendencies.

Sebastian Telfair Exposes NBA Wives Are Really After Divorce
Sebastian Telfair didn’t hold back when sharing his thoughts on the real motives of some NBA wives. He claimed many are only around for the financial benefits until divorce exposes their true intentions.
He has had his fair share of personal struggles, including a turbulent marriage with ex-wife Samantha Rodriguez-Telfair.
Public disputes, allegations of mental health struggles, and financial conflicts plagued Sebastian and Samantha’s relationship
The former athlete suggested that many wives stick around during the highs of a player’s career but quickly exit once the money dries up.
He implied that the true intentions of some partners are revealed in divorce when the NBA lifestyle fades.
When I got to the NBA, and I was going to the media, they were saying 7 out of 10 players get divorced. Now, it’s 9 out of 10 players. So if people want to know where’s the wealth in basketball? It’s in the divorce. Giving up the pension and all that stuff.

Moreover, he warned current players to be cautious of those who suddenly show interest in them, emphasizing that not all relationships are built on genuine love.
Sebastian stood firm, acknowledging that his comments might spark backlash, saying he was willing to take the bullet to shed light on what he sees as a growing issue in the league.
His remarks add to the ongoing debate about the challenges NBA players face in personal relationships.
