Dylan Cease had the start the San Diego Padres needed him to have against the Los Angeles Dodgers at Petco Park on Tuesday, June 10, 2025.

He held the Dodgers without a run and completed seven innings to help the Padres get an 11-1 win.

With two outs, Cease got Teoscar Hernandez to strike out.

While he continued to dominate the Dodgers’ lineup, the Padres continued to score.

The Padres completed the scoring in the frame with Xander Bogaerts hitting a two-run, two-out single to center field that scored Arraez and Merrill and put San Diego in front, 9-0.

He completed his night with a scoreless seventh inning.

Cease finished with no runs allowed on three hits with five walks and 11 strikeouts.

Dylan Cease’s Parents Supported Him In Achieving His Baseball Dreams

Born on December 28, 1995, in Milton, Georgia, United States, Dylan Edward Cease, 29, was raised by his father, Jeff Cease, and his mother, Anne Cease.

Jeff and Anne always supported Dylan in pursuing his baseball career.

As per the reports, his father, Jeff, played high school football.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, Dylan and his father, Jeff, took up their hobby of beekeeping.

They drove 20 minutes to a plot of land on Jeff’s brother’s property. There, they found their hives ready for harvest.

Jeff and Dylan donned their full beekeeping suits. A few hours later, the process was completed, and they had approximately 50 pounds of honey.

Now, Jeff mostly takes the lead, while Dylan manages the inventory, distributing it to friends, family, and teammates.

On the other hand, Dylan’s mother, Anne, has avoided the media spotlight, so little is known about her personal life.

Dylan also shared a close bond with his grandmother, Betty Cease, and his grandfather, Harold Cease.

As per the source, his grandmother played professional baseball.

Tragically, Betty died on April 23, 2009, at 79. She was buried at Lakeside Memorial Park.

While his offensive stats were modest, posting a .103 batting average with 3 hits and 1 RBI over 19 at-bats, he demonstrated consistency in the field, earning a substantial .957 fielding percentage.

He contributed to a successful season for Milton, helping the team secure key victories in the 2014 GHSA State Baseball Tournament (Class A), including a 10-1 win over Grayson High School.

In Case You Didn’t Know

  • In August 2013, before Cease’s senior year at Milton, Jonathan Mayo of MLB.com considered Cease to be a potential first-round draft choice in the upcoming 2014 MLB draft.
  • Cease left a game during his senior season, on March 3, 2014, due to elbow soreness, which was later diagnosed as a partial tear of the ulnar collateral ligament (UCL) of the elbow in his pitching arm.
  • As a result of his injury, Cease fell in the draft, and the Chicago Cubs selected him in the sixth round. He signed with the Cubs, receiving a $1.5 million signing bonus, well above the $269,500 recommended at that slot.
