According to the post, in an interview, Ryan Day said he prioritizes his family’s well-being over his career, saying:

As much as football means to me and this team, nothing is more important than family. My wife and I are navigating a challenging situation with our daughter’s health right now. We ask for privacy and, above all, your prayers as she fights through this.

The unanticipated revelation came out of nowhere, which startled the Ohio State community. However, intricate details surrounding his daughter’s health condition remain unknown.

Having said that, given that Ryan and Nina have a connection to mental health issues, they’ve been cautious about their kids’ mental well-being.

Ryan Day And Nina Have Deeply Invested In The Mental Well-Being Of Their Daughters And Son!

Head coach Ryan and Nina Day have been open about how mental health challenges have shaped their lives, especially considering the intense pressures of his high-profile coaching career.

On November 30, 2024, after Ohio State lost to Michigan, Ryan Day and his family faced intense backlash, prompting heightened security measures to ensure their safety.

His wife, Nina Day, revealed that they received harassment and even death threats from angry fans. Their 16-year-old son, RJ, was also targeted on social media with similar threats.

The situation escalated to the point where the family had to hire private security, including armed guards stationed at their home.

After facing serious threats, Nina thought about leaving Columbus with their kids for safety, but decided to stay. Since then, she and Ryan have been careful about their children’s mental well-being.

Likewise, their own experiences have made them deeply aware of the importance of mental health.

Ryan lost his father, Ray Day, to suicide when he was just eight years old, which had a lasting impact on him. Christina has also spoken about the need for mental health awareness, and together, they have turned their personal struggles into action to help others.

In 2021, they partnered with Nationwide Children’s Hospital in Columbus, Ohio, to create the “On Our Sleeves” initiative.

This program, part of the hospital’s mental health initiatives, aims to raise awareness about mental health, reduce stigma, and provide resources for children and their families.

Ryan and Nina Day have put a lot of effort and money into supporting mental health awareness. They genuinely care about helping people understand and talk about mental health.

In interviews, Ryan has mentioned how his role as a coach and father overlap. He teaches his players to take care of their mental health, just like he does with his own children.

Likewise, his wife, Nina, in an interview with the Columbus Dispatch in 2021, highlighted how they prioritize emotional well-being at home.

They encourage their children to share their feelings and have implemented routines like family discussions to check in on Grace and her brothers.
