The community of Monticello, Iowa, is mourning the loss of Aiden Grant, a talented young high school student whose death has deeply affected everyone.
Aiden, a kind and energetic young man, reportedly died by suicide, though his family, school, and local authorities have not officially confirmed the cause.
His passing has brought people together to support one another and remember a life full of promise.
Aiden was born to Tommy and Theresa Grant in Monticello, where he grew up with his sisters, Marisa and Ann.
The Grant family is well-known in the area.
His father, Tommy, works as a corrections officer at Anamosa State Penitentiary, and his late mother, Theresa, was a dental assistant at Monticello Family Dentistry.
Sadly, the family lost Theresa to cancer in 2016. Now, with Aiden’s death, the Grants are facing another devastating loss.
At Monticello High School, Aiden was a student in the class of 2028 and a gifted athlete who played on the boys’ junior varsity football team, where his speed and grit won the admiration of coaches and teammates.
He also competed in track and field, showing his strength and love for sports.
Aiden’s passion for athletics helped him build strong friendships in Monticello’s close-knit community.
Beyond sports, Aiden demonstrated musical talent, playing the trombone in the school band. In April 2025, he helped his ensemble earn a Division I Superior Rating at a solo and ensemble contest.
His bandmates and teachers remember his enthusiasm, which made practices fun and brought everyone closer together.
The News of Aiden’s Death has shaken the Town of Monticello.
While some reports suggest it was a suicide, the family is grieving privately and has not shared details.
The community has come forward to support the Grant family.
