Born on November 26, 1987, the South Africa-born Australian tennis player grew up with two elder sisters who played tennis.

It encouraged Matthew to pursue a career in tennis & turned professional in 2006 at 19 years old.

A year later, in 2007, he made his Grand Slam tournament debut but lost in the first qualifying round to Richard Bloomfield at the 2007 Australian Open.

Along with Grand Slam tournaments, he has played in the Masters 1000, ATP Challenger & ITF Finals in both singles & doubles categories, with opponents like Nick Kyrgios, Jamie Murray, & Ryan Harrison.

Rather than in the singles category, Ebden seems to have prolific success in the doubles category.

In fact, he has nine titles in the doubles on the ATP Tour, including two Grand Slam titles.

It includes the 2022 Wimbledon Championships (in men’s doubles) alongside Max Purcell & the 2013 Australian Open (mixed doubles) with Jarmila Gajdošová.

Mattew Ebden Wife, Kim Doig: How The Couple Met?

The Australian tennis star lives with his wife, Kim Doig Ebden & their only son Harvey in Perth, Western Australia.

As reported, the couple met in their teens; Kim was 19 years old when she met Matthew through the latter’s sister Tarryn with whom she was good friends with her.

However, due to Matthew’s career in tennis, they had to deal with a long-distance relationship.

As reported, throughout five years of dating, the pair remained far for more than one & a half years.

During that time, Kim was pursuing a double degree in law and arts at the University of Western Australia and practicing law.

Wedding After Ten Months Of Engagement

Following a couple of years of relationship, Kim and Matthew got engaged shortly after the 2012 Australian Open.

The couple then married on November 16, 2012, at The Secret Garden on the Brookland Valley Estate in Margaret River, Western Australia.

The vineyard-themed wedding included family members & close friends that, included Ebden’s regular doubles partner Ryan Harrison.

After the marriage, Kim took a leave of absence from her law firm to accompany her husband on the tours.

Matthew Ebden stated that Kim being by his side would take the stress out of the relationship caused by the long distance. It would also give him more time to focus on games.

And a year later, he won his first-ever Grand Slam title with a victory in the 2013 Australian Open (mixed doubles) alongside Jarmila Gajdošová.

Matthew And Kim Are Proud Parents

For nearly a decade of marriage, the couple didn’t share any children, probably, they were focusing on Ebden’s tennis career.

On September 1, 2021, Matthew announced via his social media profiles that he & his wife Kim were expecting a baby due in February of the following year.

In the pregnancy reveal, they wore caps that read “Dad” & “Mama” as they featured a sonography picture.

In October 2021, the duo did a gender reveal & confirmed that a baby boy was on the way.

On February 15, 2022, the Ebden couple welcomed their first son Harvey Matthew Ebden. After a week, the tennis star took to Instagram to announce the baby’s arrival.

At the time of his son’s birth, Matthew was in Melbourne for the Australian Open but under strict quarantine rules due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

It nearly led him to miss the crucial moment of his life- to be with his wife & newly born son. Thankfully, he made it there a week before the welcome of baby Ebden.

On his Instagram, Matthew Ebden frequently shares pictures of his wife & son. His wife Kim also has an Instagram account (@kimebden) but has switched the profile to private.
