Raquel Rodriguez achieved an exciting win at Women’s Tag Team Championship at WWE Evolution, improving her resiliency, not just in the ring, but also in her fight with a rare skin condition that once kept her away from wrestling.
At the all-women’s Evolution premium live event, Raquel Rodriguez and Roxanne Perez retained the WWE Women’s Tag Team Titles in a high-stakes Fatal‑4‑Way match.
Currently, Rodriguez is in her record 6th individual reign as WWE Women’s Tag Team Champion and is midway through her first reign with Roxanne Perez, which began on June 30, 2025.
Along with Roxanne, Raquel is booked to defend their titles at SummerSlam (Aug 2–3) against Charlotte Flair & Alexa Bliss.
However, with this tension ongoing, Raquel was disturbed by Alexa Bliss during her match with Charlotte on the latest SmackDown, leading Raquel to lose the match unfairly against the two.
Raquel Rodriguez Has Been Diagnosed With Mast Cell Activation Syndrome (MCAS) For a Year!
In January 2024, Raquel disclosed she’d been diagnosed with Mast Cell Activation Syndrome (MCAS). In this disorder, her body reacts with allergic symptoms even to harmless stimuli, leading to swelling, redness, hives, and eczema flare‑ups.
Before MCAS, she used to have eczema, but in late 2023, she developed severe facial swelling and discoloration.
Her tests for MCAS reportedly did not confirm the diagnosis, so it remains a doubtful or functional diagnosis based on her symptoms during that period, which was later confirmed in 2024.

Raquel’s skin condition hadn’t caused much trouble until one day, during a flight to Perth, Australia, for Elimination Chamber 2024, Raquel’s face suddenly became swollen and red.
Despite having such a skin issue, she bravely competed in the match without makeup, pushing through the painful flare-up. However, she was not able to win that match.
Raquel Rodriguez Took A Year Off From WWE To Go Through Her Skin Care!
It’s not the first time Raquel has been experiencing several skin issues. As per her interview with INSIGHT with Chris Van Vliet, she has been going through eczema since she was a kid. In her conversation with Van, she stated;
So I’ve always had eczema, even when I was younger, but it was very small areas right here, and so I think it was like 2023 I started seeing a little bit of eczema pop up on my face. I was like this is kind of weird. Maybe it could be some of the makeup because when I was little, makeup made me react. I was like it’s fine, it would come and it would go, it shows up for like a day like today
Despite her difficult journey, she still chose to pursue a career in WWE, inspiring others with similar struggles to never give up on their dreams.
According to her, one of the most challenging moments was looking in the mirror during her struggle. She tried to stay strong, but when she saw her reflection, she barely recognized herself and felt lost.
Following such a tragic moment, she also took a year off from WWE and later pursued her career with renewed glow and motivation. In the same interview with van, she even said.
“Well, at the time that whole year I was actually like these reactions, I can deal with this. I can show up and I can be confident that I don’t need to wear makeup today, I have some eyeliner on, some eyelashes, and that’s about it, a little lipstick and I’m like that’s okay. This is my life, and I want to be open about it.
At the moment, Raquel does not seem to be dealing with any skin issues, as she recently gave a strong performance against Charlotte Flair and is actively preparing for her upcoming Tag Team Championship match.
