To begin with, JJ is a native of Norfolk, Virginia, and attended Lake Taylor High School.

Academically, she is majoring in criminal studies at WVU.

Additionally, he played in the Indoor Football League (IFL) for the Arizona Rattlers.

Like his sister, he is a native of Norfolk, Virginia, and attended the local Lake Taylor High School.

Nyhre’s athletic ability was on display from his high school days.

In 2014, Nyhre Quinerly distinguished himself as a first-team Class 4A all-state wide receiver and defensive back.

This was in the course of contributing significantly to his school’s flawless 15-0 state championship triumph.

Additionally, he earned the Conference 17 Player of the Year accolade and secured a spot in the All-Tidewater selection during his senior year.

Moreover, he was the team captain in his senior year, displaying his leadership skills.

Following his impressive record, Scout.com rated him as the 34th-best prospect in Virginia in 2015.

On the other hand, he boasted an impressive academic record as an honor roll student throughout all four years at Lake Taylor.

This demonstrates his multi-faceted portfolio as an excellent student and a prominent athlete.

His College Career

Quinerly initially pursued his collegiate journey at East Carolina University, in their football program for two seasons.

During his time there, he majorly featured as a special teams player.

Later, he transferred to Norfolk State University. Nyhre took off at Norfolk, playing as a defensive back.

In 2019, Quinerly earned a spot on the All-MEAC first team for his outstanding performances at Norfolk.

He boasted impressive overall stats, with 225 tackles and 17 pass deflections. Overall, Nyhre had a significant college stint with Norfolk.

NFL Dream: From College Excellence to IFL Tenacity

Unfortunately, college excellence did not lead to an NFL contract, as Nyhre went unselected in the NFL draft. 

This came as a big disappointment in his young career. However, he was signed up by the Arizona Rattlers to play in the IFL.

Regarding his NFL dreams, Nyhre remains grounded and promises to work hard to make it one day.

“A lot of people didn’t think I could make it. But I have a story to tell, and I’m still writing it. One day a kid might look at my situation and may go through the same thing, and they’ll look at my situation and get inspiration.”

A testament to his undying spirit and hardworking attitude, Nyhre has never given up on his ultimate dream. It will be interesting to see where his career chronicle goes next.
