The Rowan University graduate and Frisbee Golf team founder died in a tragic accident.
As per Austin’s official Facebook handle, he was originally from Merchantville, New Jersey, and went to Pennsauken High School.
Later, he attended Camden County College and graduated from Rowan University in 2020.
He was a junior majoring in Health and Physical Education at Rowan University.
An Eagle Scout and a brother of the Alpha Phi Delta Fraternity, he was known for his leadership and commitment.
While at Rowan, Austin founded a frisbee golf club, working with fellow students to launch a team through the University’s Rec Center.
Rowan University’s Austin Gillis Died In A Tragic Accident
As per the reports, Austin Gillis, born on February 5, 1997, died on Sunday, August 10, 2025, at the age of 28, due to a tragic accident.
However, the reason behind the accident has not been revealed, as the investigation is ongoing.
Rosa Reyes, who worked at Udren Law Offices, took to her official Facebook handle and mourned the loss of Austin. She wrote,
RIP Austin Gilliss! It’s so sad to know you left this earth so soon! You were one of the funniest guy I had the pleasure of meeting. Sending prayers to your brothers & family! Rest easy

As per Austin’s family, Austin’s life will be celebrated on Friday, August 22, 2025, from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. in the grand ballroom at the Pennsauken Country Club.

Austin Gillis Is Survived By His Brother, Steven Gillis
Austin Gillis grew up with his brother, Steven Gillis, a graduate of Rowan University.
As per Steven’s Facebook handle, he has been serving as a physical therapist at Fox Rehabilitation.
He tied the knot with Annie Gillis on November 16, 2024.
Recently, Steven took to his Facebook handle and mourned the loss of his brother. He wrote,
Austin, you weren’t just my brother, you were my best friend, my A1 day one. You were the most friendly, caring, fun, goofy, outgoing person I ever knew. Im still in shock and at a loss of words. You were the best of us and it’s so heartbreaking that we lost you so soon. Remembering all the great times we had and how amazing you were is the main thing getting me through this. Thank you to everyone for reaching out and sending your love. Keep sending photos and videos if you have them. Love you brotha and look forward to seeing you again soon
