Dave Nezat, a former St. Edmund football team’s linebacker, passed away in his sleep due to a heart attack on August 26, 2025.

He fully lived his life and had no signs of struggle from an apparent massive heart attack.

Nezat played linebacker on the St. Edmund football team, where he was ranked among the record holders and breakers.

Although he left St. Edmund, he visited his alma mater a couple of years ago and met the players who broke his long-standing football record.

We are deeply saddened by his sudden passing. Our hearts and prayers go out to David’s family during this difficult time. May he be remembered for the legacy he left both on and off the field.

After graduation, he joined the University of Louisiana at Lafayette in 1984. He studied Business Administration and Management, and Minors in Sociology and Humanities.

Furthermore, Nezat ventured into several businesses. He co-owned Furniture Centers and served as vice president of business development at Conns Appliances.

He was also a local musician who became a professional drummer of Chubby Carrier & The Bayou Swamp Band.

Nonetheless, he was a member of the board of advisors of Spray Wash Pro and owned his company, Nezat’s Pressure Washing.

Dave Nezat’s Family Mourns the Tragic Loss

Dave Nezat was a beloved local musician, devoted family man, and cherished friend who passed away unexpectedly on August 26, 2025.

He left the world in his sleep from an apparent massive heart attack, leaving a void in the hearts of all who knew him.

Dave lived his life fully and with great passion, impacting countless lives through his genuine friendship, immense talent, and boundless love.

He was a fixture in the community, known not only for his musical talents but also for his kind and sincere nature.

His siblings, Ron, Chad E., and Dennis Nezat, remember him as a guiding light and a source of immense pride.

Ron shared the tragic news of his brother’s passing, while Chad posted a heartfelt tribute, reflecting on a lifetime of admiration for his older brother.

Similarly, Dennis always took great pride in his brother’s musical accomplishments and the man he became.

Not sure I ever told him how proud I was of him. He had so much talent.

Furthermore, Dave was one of the nicest, most down-to-earth people one could ever meet.

He had a unique gift for ensuring that everyone around him was having a good time. His presence was a guarantee of laughter and camaraderie.

Gone too soon. Me and Dave meet 35 years ago. I feel like a piece of me was just taken away. Always friends. Can’t believe I have to live the rest of my life without him. My memories will never fade. I’ll miss you’ Papa Puff’ Dave Nezat.

A man of many talents, Dave was highly skilled in pressure washing.

He applied the same dedication and eye for detail that he brought to his music. His professional service earned him the respect and praise of all his clients.

Above all else, he was a devoted family man.

His life was profoundly changed for the better with the birth of his son, Caleb Nezat, in 2004. Caleb was the center of his world, and his most significant legacy of love is carried on through his son.

His memory will be forever treasured by his loving son, Caleb; his brothers, Ron, Chad, and Dennis; and a vast community of friends, fellow musicians, and all who were fortunate enough to be touched by his beautiful spirit.

The Nezat family will soon announce the celebration of Dave’s life.
