Ryan Reid, who is of Jamaican-American descent, was a former Florida State University basketball player who played for the Seminoles from 2006 to 2010.
Born on October 30, 1986, in Lauderdale Lakes, Florida, he was a talented and hardworking forward known for his strong defense.
He played in 126 games at FSU and was named team captain in his senior year.
In 2010, he was drafted by the Indiana Pacers in the second round of the NBA Draft but was traded to the Oklahoma City Thunder.
He spent most of his time in the NBA’s development league with the Tulsa 66ers but also played five games in the NBA with the Thunder.
Afterward, Ryan continued his basketball career overseas in countries like Canada, France, Japan, and Puerto Rico.
Tragically, on July 9, 2025, Ryan Reid passed away at the age of 38 after suffering a medical emergency.
He is survived by his family, including his beloved wife and two children.

She is a high-achieving stretch forward with a 3.9 GPA. Recently, she received an offer to play college basketball from Essex County College Women’s Basketball.
She currently plays for Collins Hill High School and competes on the AAU circuit with FBC Dynasty Elite, highlighting her skills and drive as part of the class of 2026.
Their young son Preston Reid has shown an early passion for basketball, frequently seen playing alongside his father in family moments captured on social media.
He also stays active through regular fitness and exercise, reflecting the athletic spirit that runs in the family.
