Jett Washington’s father, Jerrod Washington, was a star college American football player who was drafted to the NFL’s New England Patriots in 1994.

Jett Washington, ranked No. 29 overall nationally and the top-ranked player in Nevada, committed to the Ducks on Thursday, June 19, 2025.

The 6-foot-5, 200-pound safety, who attends Bishop Gorman High in Las Vegas, chose UO over USC and Alabama.

Washington is the nephew of the late Kobe Bryant.

His .9846 ranking in the 247Sports Composite would rank 16th all-time among Oregon signees.

He was the 2024 MaxPreps Nevada Player of the Year, posting 38 tackles with five interceptions, two pass breakups, and one forced fumble as a junior.

Jett also had 37 tackles and two interceptions as a sophomore.

The addition of Washington gives Oregon nine commits in its 2026 class, which moved up nine spots to No. 28 overall in the 247Sports rankings and No. 2 on a per-player basis.

Football Safety Jett Washington Got Some Of His Athleticism From His Parents

Born on November 13, 2007, Jett Washington, 17, was raised by his father, Jerrod, and his mother, Sharia B. Washington.

His father, Jerrod, played running back at the University of Virginia in the early 1990s.

He led a 7-5 Cavaliers squad in running as a senior in 1993 with 871 yards and five touchdowns.

Jerrod was also drafted by the NFL’s New England Patriots in 1994. He inspired Jett and helped him pursue his football career.

During one of the interviews, Jerrod said that Jett got some of his athleticism from him. He added,

“He got some of his athleticism from me, but he got his hops from his mom. She’s 5-10 and can dunk a tennis ball,”

According to Jerrod’s Facebook profile, he attended Central High School of Philadelphia and later studied at the University of Virginia.

He has been serving as the co-founder of Zhoosh Media and CEO of Ready Buddy Studios.

On the other hand, Jett’s mother, Sharia, was a volleyball player at Temple. As per the source, she is an American socialite, businesswoman, and celebutante.

Sharia is best known for being the oldest sister of the late Kobe Bryan.

Jett Washington Grew Up With His Two Sisters

Football safety Jett Washington has two sisters, Tayah and Sydney Taylor Washington.

According to Sydney’s LinkedIn profile, she holds a bachelor’s degree in psychology from California State University, Fullerton.

Later, she received her master’s degree in psychology from California State University, Long Beach.

From August 2023 to May 2025, she served as the project OCEAN graduate peer educator at California State University.

He was a personal fitness trainer at Sydney Taylor Training for 5 years and 6 months. Since May 2025, she has been serving as the mental performance coach at IMG Academy.

According to the reports, Jett’s second sister, Tayah, graduated from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas.

She served as the summer league hospitality lead at the National Basketball Association. Since November 2018, she has been serving as the kids’ supervisor and instructor at Time Inc.
