When Drew Brees accepted the Saints Hall of Fame award during halftime of the Denver Broncos game on Thursday night, fans grew curious and concerned about the scar on his face as he took the podium to speak at the induction ceremony.

Key Takeaways

  • To answer the issue, the scar or mark on Brees’ face is a birthmark, not the result of an accident or injury, as many people assumed.
  • Undoubtedly, he could afford the plastic surgery to erase that birthmark permanently. However, Drew was never bothered to consider this idea.

Commencing in 1988, Brees was inducted as the 59th member of the Saints Hall of Fame.

Brees led the Saints to victory in Super Bowl XLIV and was named Most Valuable Player in the team’s 31-17 triumph against the Indianapolis Colts.

He is widely regarded as the finest player in franchise history. Under Brees’ direction, the Saints won two more NFC championships.

During Thursday night’s home game against the Denver Broncos, the New Orleans Saints honored renowned franchise quarterback Drew Brees as the newest inductee into their Hall of Fame ceremony.

At Caesars Superdome, Brees was honored with Sean Payton, the former head coach of the Saints. Payton, the head coach of the Broncos, coached New Orleans from 2006 to 2021.

When Brees took the stage, he led the Saints supporters in the pregame chant that he had used to yell at his teammates in their 2009 Super Bowl victory.

Considering that the Saints had just stammered to a 16-3 halftime disadvantage, getting the entire audience involved was quite the accomplishment.

After the speech and introduction, many were curious about the scar on his face and wondered what happened to Drew Brees. This led to many unanswered questions.

In an earlier interview with CNN, he discussed how he handled bullying because of his mark.

Oprah attempted to remove Drew’s birthmark the first time she saw him in person because she mistook it for a lipstick smear.

He said,

Because of my birthmark, which I was obviously born with, I got all kinds of comments when I was a kid. ‘Wipe that whatever off your face.’ This and that. I got all kinds of nicknames

The NFL player could have had surgery to remove the scar. Undoubtedly, he could afford plastic surgery to erase that birthmark permanently. However, Drew never even considered this idea.

Because he believes it’s acceptable to be different and that his permanent birthmark is an inherent part of who he is and shouldn’t cause him shame.

In an interview with TMZ, Drew stated that the birthmark will persist unless there are any health concerns associated with it.
