Wakarusa, Indiana Community Mourns Former Multi-Athlete and Huntington University Athletic Hall of Famer Kim Sellers, 56, Survived by Husband Norm and Three Sons

Kim Sellers, a Bremen, Indiana native and former collegiate multi-athlete, passed away on Wednesday, August 27, 2025, at an untimely age of 56, leaving her family, friends, and loved ones devastated.

Kim Sellers’ untimely demise came after a courageous seven-year battle with cancer. She passed away at her home in Wakarusa, Indiana.

Born on January 10, 1969, in Bremen, Indiana, to parents Robert and Sue Hickman, Kiim Sellers showcased her amazing athletic skills from a very young age, excelling in multiple sports.

She attended Bremen High School, where she was an outstanding volleyball, basketball, and tennis player.

Kim Sellers graduated from Bremen High School in 1987, and for her remarkable sports journey, she was inducted into the Bremen High School Athletic Hall of Fame.

Similarly, Kim continued her athletic journey at Huntington University, where she excelled in three sports, including basketball, tennis, and softball, playing for the Foresters.

She earned her Bachelor’s degree in education from Huntington University in 1991 and was inducted into the Huntington University Athletic Hall of Fame for her outstanding accomplishments as an exceptional multi-sport athlete over her four years.

Although Kim Sellers didn’t pursue a professional career in sports, she continued to impact the lives of many as an educator positively.

Kim served as a fourth-grade teacher for Bremen Public Schools for years before moving to Wakarusa with her family.

The untimely death of Kim Sellers has left a profound void in the lives of her family, friends, and loved ones.

Many of her loved ones are paying tribute to Kim Sellers and extending their heartfelt condolences to her family during this difficult time.

Kim Sellers Leaves Behind Her Longtime Husband, Norm Sellers, Three Sons, and The Whole Family

Kim Sellers was not just an amazing athlete and teacher but also a devoted wife to her longtime husband, Norm Sellers.

The couple tied the knot on August 13, 1994, and were happily married for 31 years, raising three sons, Trent, Chad, and Kyle.

Like Kim Sellers, her husband, Norm Sellers, is also a former athlete and has been serving as the Athletic Director of Northwood High School in Nappanee, Indiana, for over two decades, managing 20 interscholastic athletic programs and their coaches.

Norm earned his Bachelor’s degree in Health and Physical Education from Bethel College in 1990.

Similarly, late Kim Sellers and her husband, Norm Sellers, instilled their athletic genes in all three of their sons.

Their son, Trent Sellers, played basketball and football at Northwood High School and earned his Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology, Sports Marketing, and Management from Indiana University Bloomington.

Trent also served as a performance center operations assistant at South Bend Cubs and as a Site Director at Pastime Tournaments LLC. He currently serves as a regional sales manager of Viaggio Pontoon Boats.

Likewise, their other son, Chad Sellers, played baseball, basketball, and football at Northwood High School and served as the athletic Administration assistant at DePauw University, from which he earned his Bachelor’s degree in computer science.

Chad Sellers currently serves as the regional sales manager of Bennington Pontoon Boats.

Their third son, Kyle Sellers, played football in high school and is currently pursuing his bachelor’s degree at Purdue University.

In addition to her husband and three sons, Kim Seller is survived by her daughter-in-law, Alexis Houk, and her son’s wife, Kylie Sellers, as well as her brother, Dr. Kevin (Heidi) Hickman, and her three nephews, Dawson, Camden, and Maddux Hickman, and the entire family.

Kim Sellers was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Sue Hickman.

Her family has organized a funeral and memorial service for the late Kim Sellers on Tuesday, September 2, 2025, and Wednesday, September 3, 2025, at the Nappanee Missionary Church Chapel.
