Student-athlete of Montgomery High School tragically passed away due to a fatal heart attack caused by an undiagnosed genetic heart condition on August 2, 2025, at the age of 15.
Kaleb Hill was a 15-year-old soon-to-be freshman and Junior Varsity football player at Montgomery High School.
He was known for his love of sports, particularly football, and his devotion to his church community.
Montgomery Community Grieves the Sudden Loss of Kaleb Hill!
Kaleb had recently joined the Junior Varsity football team at Montgomery High School alongside his younger brother, Kason.
The two brothers were excited about their first season of playing together, but fate intervened before they could even start official practices.
Kaleb’s sister, Nadija Hill, shared one of her last memories with Kaleb, saying:
“My last memory with Kaleb was when they picked up their football gear. Our other brother Kishon was pretending like he was giving them NFL interviews. All I could see was that bright, beautiful smile of his.”
Later that day, Kaleb began feeling signs of dehydration while playing at home.
Moments later, he collapsed, and despite the best efforts of emergency responders, they were unable to revive him.
The cause of Kaleb’s sudden collapse was later discovered to be a fatal heart attack.
Kaleb’s family soon learned that he had an undiagnosed genetic heart condition, specifically an abnormal cardiac artery.
According to Kaleb’s family, his elevated salt levels combined with dehydration in the intense Texas summer heat proved to be a deadly combination.
Kaleb had recently passed his routine sports physical, but unfortunately, this condition was not detected during the exam.
Kaleb’s sister Nadija Hill expressed the family’s frustration, saying:
“His condition couldn’t have been caught by a basic physical. You need a scan from a cardiologist. An EKG isn’t enough.”
Moreover, the community is mourning the unexpected death of 15-year-old Kaleb Hill, a soon-to-be freshman at Montgomery High School.
Kaleb tragically collapsed from a fatal heart attack just days after receiving a routine sports physical.
His passing has left his family, friends, and the entire town heartbroken, as they struggle to comprehend the loss of a bright and promising young man.
In the wake of this tragedy, the Hill family is urging other parents and schools to take extra precautions.
They hope their story will raise awareness about the need for comprehensive heart screenings for student-athletes, which goes beyond basic physical exams.
Currently, Texas requires student-athletes to undergo a physical in their freshman and junior years, but EKGs, while available, are not standard practice.
Kaleb’s sister Micah Hill shared her heartbreak:
“Kaleb had just passed his physical. But it wasn’t enough. Please go get your kids checked and save yourself from this heartbreak.”
As Kaleb’s family prepares for his funeral services, Nadija Hill has set up a memorial fund, “Kaleb Hill’s burial fund support.”
The purpose of this campaign is to raise funds to assist with funeral expenses, as well as to raise awareness about the genetic heart condition that contributed to Kaleb’s sudden passing.
Our heartfelt condolences go out to Kaleb Hill’s family, friends, and well-wishers.
Rest In Peace, Beautiful Soul!
