NBA sensation Anthony Edwards, the electrifying guard for the Minnesota Timberwolves, now finds himself at the center of an off-court legal battle that’s drawing national attention, with one of his three baby mamas.
Edwards recently paid a one-time child support sum of $1,080,000, a payment intended to cover the next 18 years of support for his child. But Ayesha Howard, the child’s mother, is pushing back hard, publicly and legally.
Ayesha Howard Slams Lump Sum as “Injustice”
Ayesha Howard, 37, has filed court documents objecting to the lump-sum structure, arguing it unfairly removes her legal right to seek future increases if Edwards’ income spikes again.
“I already used $100,000 out of the money,” she reportedly said. “What if I finish it before the 18 years is up?”
Howard initially agreed to $5,000 per month in child support, under the assumption she could revisit the case in court if needed.
But Edwards’ legal team preempted that route by paying in full, effectively shielding him from future financial adjustments.
She called the decision “an injustice to a poor woman like me” and blamed the court system for leaving her vulnerable.
Edwards Strikes Back With Legal Claims
In newly surfaced filings, Edwards and his attorneys accuse Howard of forum shopping—allegedly attempting to move the case from one state to another (specifically to California) in hopes of securing a more favorable child support outcome.
His legal team further claims Howard used an ovulation tracker as part of her court argument, which they say points to a “premeditated financial plan.” The brief criticizes her for attempting to manipulate the court and alleges bad-faith behavior.
According to Edwards’ team, there’s no legal basis for California to handle the case, especially since she reportedly failed to provide evidence of residence or employment in the state. A motion for sanctions against Howard is now pending.
