She played seven seasons in the WNBA with the Houston Comets, Seattle Storm, Minnesota Lynx, and Sacramento Monarchs. 

The highlight of her playing career includes a triumphant WNBA Championship win in 2004 with the Seattle Storm.

In April of 2016, Barnes returned to her alma mater as the head coach of the women’s basketball team.

Since then, she has orchestrated a remarkable transformation, propelling Arizona women’s basketball to the forefront.

She became the first coach since 2016 to reach the Final Four in their first five years as a head coach.

Additionally, Barnes led the Wildcats on a historic run to the 2019 WNIT title during her third season.

Arizona came out strong, showcasing a formidable defense in the opening 10 minutes. They even held a narrow 14-13 lead after the first quarter.

However, the tide turned swiftly in favor of USC as the Trojans outscored Arizona 69-51 in the final three-quarters of the game.

Coach Barnes acknowledged the team’s struggles in containing JuJu Watkins, emphasizing the difficulty in guarding USC’s highly-touted freshman.

Arizona faced additional setbacks with injuries to starters Jada Williams and Esmery Martinez, both of whom sustained injuries during the fourth quarter.

The Wildcats have six games left in the regular season should they try to finish above .500.
